Race FAQs

Hi Friends,

It’s that time of year! The Great Mother’s Day Race is now only a few short weeks away, and we wanted to provide you with an update and some frequently asked questions that we receive.

  1. Can I bring a stroller? Yes, definitely! We’d recommend that if you decide to bring a stroller, that you start near the back so that it doesn’t get in the way of the faster runners.
  2. Is the Sarasota race on sand? Do I wear shoes? Yes, the race is 100% on the sand. People do wear running shoes, and some even enjoy going barefoot. Really, it’s your comfort and your decision.
  3. When is packet pick-up? For the Sarasota Race it’s Friday, May 6 from 3-7p at Fit2Run Downtown Sarasota and on race day starting at 7a. For the Tamparace, it’s Saturday, May 7 from 3-7p at Fit2Run International Plaza (Tampa) and on race day at 7a.
  4. How am I timed? We put a timing strip on your bib, which you receive during packet pick-up. You don’t need to do anything else but pin the bib on your shorts/shirt.
  5. Can my child run with me? Absolutely! If they’re younger than 8, they can run/walk for free, but they won’t receive a shirt, medal, bib, or goodie bag. We’d recommend registering your child in the 8-14 category if you want them to receive the benefits.
  6. What if I’m not a runner? Come out and walk and enjoy the day! Bring your friends and family, the more the merrier!
  7. What’s parking like? There’s plenty of spots in the early am at Siesta Key Beach. No issues at all. In Tampa, there are 400 spots + overflow parking. There will be plenty of spots!
  8. What if I have out-of-state family that want to participate? We have a “virtual” option for the out of towners! Basically, they register as a “virtual” runner and will receive a t-shirt, bib, and medal. We ship the items to them, and they get to share in the fun. They must run/walk the 5K in their city and can post on our social media page!

We hope that this FAQ list helps! As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or comments.
